Хотя эстрогены оказывают в целом благоприятное воздействие на липиды плазмы, в том числе увеличение HDL и снижение уровня общего холестерина и ЛПНП, они также были связаны с значительное повышение уровня триглицеридов, особенно когда используются высокие дозировки. Тяжелая гиперлипидемия, как известно, иногда вызывать панкреатит. Пациенты с существующими ранее гиперлипидемия может потребоваться более тщательный мониторинг во время терапии эстрогенами, и соответствующие корректировки вносятся в их гиполипидемических препаратов.
