Использование калий-сберегающих диуретиков противопоказано при наличии повышенной концентрации калия в крови (> 5,5 мэкв/л). Калийсберегающими диуретиками может привести к гиперкалиемии, которая может привести к угрожающих жизни сердечных аритмий. Тщательный мониторинг уровня калия сыворотки необходимо во всех пациентов, получающих калийсберегающие диуретики, особенно в начале терапии, после коррекции дозы, а во время болезни, которые могут изменять функции почек. Диуретический должны быть выведены немедленно, если гиперкалиемия развивается, и меры должны быть инициированы к снижению калия в крови, если оно превышает 6,5 мэкв/л. сочетанное применение калийсберегающего диуретика с калиюретик мочегонное (например, тиазиды) может снизить риск развития гиперкалиемии.
